Fort Dauphin Museum was established in 1975. It is located in the west end of Dauphin near the Vermillion River. Complete with a pioneer home, trading post, blacksmith shop, trapper's cabin, church, and a one-room schoolhouse, the museum contains a vast array of artifacts and is an ideal source of information about Manitoba's past.
The Fort itself is a replica of a fur-trading post that was established on the shore of Lake of the Prairies in 1741. Fort Dauphin Museum is also the home of the Parkland Archaeological Laboratory, a facility that stores information on more than 1000 archaeological sites in the Parkland Region.
